Famous Churches of Louisiana and New Orleans

Named after Louis XIV, Louisiana is a beautiful state located in the southern region of the United States of America. This is the only state with political subdivisions called as parishes. Having a varied and colorful past, Louisiana has been governed under 10 different flags. There are many beautiful mystical teachings where large numbers of people go and pray everyday. Histories of some of the important Churches of Louisiana and New Orleans have been discussed in this article.

A large sized Baptist Church is the Mount Airy Church which is a blend of traditional and contemporary worship. This church is located in Boutte which is a census designated place in Louisiana. A medium sized Baptist Church of Louisiana is the Trinity Baptist Church located in Pineville. This Southern Baptist Church is with the blend of traditional and contemporary worship. Another well known church located in Deridder, Louisiana is the medium sized Broadlands Bible Church.

In 1918 the Diocese of Lafayette Church was established. In mid 1970’s settlers from France, Germany and Spain bought in the sacraments to preach the word of God in the new land. They were accompanied by many priests. St. Martinville was the first Church parishes, which is now known as the Diocese of Lafayette. In 1918 the new Diocese of Lafayette was formed having 48 Church parishes.

More than 100 years old Church of Louisiana is the famous Le Blanc Church. This Church was established by the Le Blanc family including Abbeville and Rayne. So, it is located on their family land in Erath, Louisiana. Another famous Church of Louisiana is the Grand Coteau Catholic Church. This Church is even known as a miracle Church as the Vatican’s recognize this area to be a place where an actual miracle took place. In 1821 St. Madeline Sophie built a school here during those times when women were not allowed to go to schools and get educated. This sister then became a Saint of this Church. Mermentau Catholic Church, Lyon Pointe Catholic Church and Ascension Catholic Church are the names of some more famous Churches of Louisiana.

New Orleans is the largest metropolitan city, located in Southeastern Louisiana. Well known for its French architecture, New Orleans is also famous for its cross cultural and multilingual heritage. This city is instantly recognized by the oldest Catholic Cathedral named as the St. Louis Cathedral. St. Augustine is another famous Cathedral located at New Orleans. Due to the Hurricane Katrina, this Cathedral had to go through a lot of struggles. It nearly took 18 months to rebuild it and now it is back in form. This grand old church is an important piece to its history and one of the most integrated churches in the country. It stands with a good status among the historic churches of New Orleans.

In 1846, Saint Anna’s Church was established in New Orleans. Due to lack of maintenance the structure of this monument was damaged, but after renovation it is back with its original glow. Henry Howard the famous architecture had built this monument.
